MVCC Veterans Day Ceremony to honor vets of all nations
On November 11 at 11 a.m., the Mohawk Valley Community College Veterans’ Club will honor all veterans. Rep. Michael Arcuri will read a proclamation thanking veterans for their service, and the honor guard and chorus from Proctor High School’s Navy Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps will sing the national anthem and conduct a brief ceremony. The U.S. flag will be raised while “Taps” is played.
All veterans are invited to attend, along with MVCC students, faculty, staff and neighbors.
The event is sponsored by the MVCC Veteran’s Club, which has been active with cleanups, charitable activities, and other ways of connecting veterans with the Oneida County community.
“MVCC has educated or employed literally thousands of veterans in its history,” says student John Zayas, who is president of the Veterans’ Club and a veteran of the U.S. Army. “We are proud to have this opportunity to say ‘thank you’ to men and women from all nations who have served the military with pride and dignity.”
The Veterans’ Club will also host a private coffee reception for MVCC students, faculty, and staff who are veterans or who have family members who are veterans or are deployed.
For information or to RSVP for the morning coffee, contact Zayas at hoaah8804@aol.com or (315) 765-9112.
