Have you heard about the USA? Apparently the majority of them have been fat slobs for a good while now. It's true, guys, we're fat. As great a country we are, that's just the facts. Which is really sad, to me, because it's possibly one of the most controllable problems anyone could have. I'm not saying losing weight is easy, but compared to disease and famine, we've got it easy.
What are some possible solutions to the obesity crisis? Well maybe we could exercise more, but how do you enforce that to the public without being overly militaristic and quite frankly the idea of a cop saying "Hey! You're not exercising." just scares me. So how many other options are there than to monitor food in schools and pray to whatever we pray to that parents learn to throw away the snacks? Well, what this giant introduction has been leading up to, is the idea of filtering out the fatty, crappy foods that schools have and introduce salads, grilled chicken, and maybe take the 3rd layer of sugar off the top of the sandwiches (at least). Organizations are spending thousands of dollars to promote healthy foods. Well recently, PCRM put up some posters promoting healthy foods in schools.

The White House contacted the organization (PCRM) and requested they take it down. And they did! The posters they spent $20,000 printing and putting up around Union Station just got taken down.
"They're very nice people. I like them a lot," Barnard says. "But they called and said: Please take those down, you can't mention the kids and so forth. . . . They felt that mentioning the president's children was off-limits. They said [they're] not going to allow the use of their daughters as leverage."
They felt it was off-limits? Is it off-limits, do you think? None of the little Obama's names were given, and neither is displayed. And the poster would've really helped get the point across, I think. The girl in the poster is a vegetarian, who goes to a school with zero vegetarian options. Kids across the nation are forced to either eat crap or eat nothing. I guess they could bring bagged lunches, but none of the parents are taking it into their own hands, so how are we gonna lose weight?
My questions I want you to answer are;
1. Can you think of any ways for the government to help the country lose weight, besides replacing unhealthy foods?
2. Would you take the poster down if it was
you who put it up? And what do you think would happen if you didn't?
And...
3. What will this country become if we do nothing about our nutrition?
Obviously, nutrition isn't the biggest thing on America's mind right now, but maybe it should be. Doesn't everything, in the end, come down to how we're living as people? If there's nobody alive to worry about health care, what's the point?
