CNY CyberVillage: Mohawk Valley

CNY CyberVillage - Mohawk Valley Edition - - Your New CNY Home Base.

Unfortunately, for the owners of this eatery, we were not impressed with the prices, food, service or setting of the Café Del Buono.

From the very moment we first cracked open the menu we realized we might have made a mistake as there were no kids menus! Although we were offered side dishes for the kids. Turns out my daughter is a kid, who likes a kids menu, not a side human, who wants a side dish, so the side dishes were not an option. So $16 orders for two kids were going to happen. Ouch! That is $32 worth of kids’ meals, for those of you a little weak on the math! OK, so I figured I am not going to let that ruin my night out. Maybe the $10 worth of fries would make a great snack for the kids later tonight!

The service was bad. One order came late, sodas ran dry and despite the fact that we understand that waitresses can be very busy, ours seemed to be in a sloppy rush! She literally dropped dishes on us as though she was dropping them from a plane on her way by. I actually watched her drop a plate on one of our parties hands in a drive by fashion. Maybe we weren’t the regulars she is use to seeing, I don’t know, but I grew more angry as this night went on! One order, which was ordered medium spicy was ON FIRE! That was verified by a second person just to ensure that the person who ordered the meal wasn’t over sensitive.

So, the ordeal is about over, we weren’t too happy overall, but could it get worse? YES! We later realized that the very pricey french fries that we paid for were not in our to-go boxes! I figured that was about $10 worth of fries that we didn’t go home with. Finally, in another drive by fashion, our waitress abandoned us before we finished. OK, fine, people have places to go, but just don’t start serving our table in the first place. Maybe it was a personal emergency! We’ll give that the benefit if the doubt on this one.

Overall I give the Café Del Buono a one out of five stars. We will check it again in a few weeks just to be sure this isn’t a fluke. It seems hard to imagine that all these factors could have just been a culmination of one really big bad night, be we will see. They have a lot of regulars who seem to like the place, but I can’t see why! At the very least, I would say that the Café Del Buono is not really a family eatery. I did see many older couples coming in while we were there. Although, for the life of me, I can’t imagine paying their price for even just my wife and I. Some habits are hard to break I guess. We definitely had a comedy of errors, which can be blamed on management, server, chef and even the chairs. There plenty of blame to go around.
